MotoGP Legend Max Biaggi undertook a day of testing on the ART-Aprilia MotoGP™ machine on Monday 12th May, 2014 at the Mugello circuit.

Biaggi won two Superbike World Championship titles with Aprilia (2012 & 2012) after three 250cc Grand Prix World titles with the Italian brand earlier in his career (1994-1996).

Aprilia Racing Manager Romano Albesiano commented, “Max is an important part of Aprilia’s history and a rider with great skill, who wanted to try our ART machine as we work towards the creation of a MotoGP prototype. We are pleased to see Max again at the controls of the bike, it’s always great for the engineers and racing fans to see. But this is not a test in preparation for a return to the race track. Things are starting to take shape and I like to think of this test more as a gathering between two friends.”

Aprilia have stated that they are aiming to participate full-time in MotoGP in 2016. Using the experience and data gathered with their ART machine racing amongst the CRT and ‘Open’ bikes, the company’s racing division is planning to design a first prototype to take to the track next spring.
