Jorge Lorenzo wants to stay with his current team but is still in negotiations for a contract renewal, having been a Yamaha rider since his arrival in the premier class in 2008.
Like his Movistar Yamaha MotoGP colleague Valentino Rossi, Lorenzo has his manager working on a new contract with the team, with both riders’ current deals running out at the end of 2014.
Lorenzo won the 2010 and 2012 MotoGP™ World Championships with Yamaha and he insists his priority is to complete his racing career with the same manufacturer – even if contract negotiations require some more time.
Lorenzo stated, “For this moment we have found some differences between us, but as I always say I would like to finish my career with Yamaha. It would be the most beautiful thing, to finish my career with Yamaha without changing team. So hopefully we can find a solution.”
When pressed to expand on where those differences might be found, Lorenzo answered, “Mainly economically to be honest.”
