YAMAHA UNVEILS 2016 M1 MOTOGP BIKES

The factory Yamaha team on Monday, 18th January, 2016 unveiled the new YZR M1 to be raced by Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo in the 2016 MotoGP World Championships

The Japanese leader teamed up with Movistar Telefonica launched the 2016 M1 Prototype in Barcelona in front of the World Media. Despite the changes in MotoGP for the 2016 season, the Factory Team maintains it’s title sponsor Movistar Yamaha MotoGP as well as it’s rider line up of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team remains absolute – To win to defend it’s triple crown won in 2015 amidst the Tyre change to Michelin from Bridgestone and Electronics unification.

The Factory Yamaha Box had it’s fair share of drama between it’s two World Champions Valentino Rossi against Jorge Lorenzo as well as enjoyed the Team World Championship Title, Manufacturer Title as well as the Rider title eventually won by Lorenzo with just 5 points advantage over his team mate and rival Rossi.

Despite the tension that rocked the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team paddocks, Lin Jarvis the Yamaha Team director maintained “There’s no reason to put a wall in the garage. One of our strengths is the fact that the team work really well together, the riders are individual competitors against themselves but the team of mechanics and engineers all work really well together. If we put a barrier between them it will be to the deficit of the team, the riders and the engineers. This is a thing of the past and as I said last year, we understand both riders are competing against each other. As Jorge said, if Valentino is his main competitor for the championship then it’s a good thing, it means Yamaha are at the front. That’s our main goal: to beat our competitors.”
