The Kentucky Kid was the rider with the fastest lap today at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli as the WorldSBK restarted for the second part of the 2016 season

Nicky Hayden aboard the Honda CBR1000RR SP shone brighter like a billion stars at the Adriatic Track putting to use his vast knowledge and experience of the Misano track from his MotoGP years.

WorldSBK rookie Markus Reiterberger placed 2nd aboard the S1000RR Althea BMW,

ahead of the 2013 World Champion Tom Sykes’ Kawasaki ZX10R in 3rd – the man who has been on pole for the last 4 weekends at Misano.

The Ducati Panigale of Davide Giugliano crossed the line in 4th place to score himself the fastest Italian and Ducati rider at home.

The day looked more like it worked better for Althea BMW as Jordie Torres rode the second S1000RR to a top five finish making the BMW the only Manufacturer with two bikes in the top five.

Chaz Davies aboard Racing’s second machine was 6th ahead of his country man Alex Lowes in 7th on the Pata Yamaha R1.

Lowes, after breaking his collarbone in Malaysia, was back on track to head the Pata Yamaha charge at the home Round for their Italian title sponsor, with the Brit having tested at Misano despite his injury and able to take part in the weekend after the disappointment of having missed his home Round at Donington Park.

Lowes ended Day 1 in P7 and goes straight to Tissot-Superpole 2, with temporary teammate Niccolo Canepa – in for injured Sylvain Guintoli – looking to join him by graduating from Superpole 1

8th spot was where reigning World Champion Jonathan Rea could be found ahead of Honda protegee Michael Van der Mark in 9th with Barni Racing Xavi Forres rounding up the top ten spot
