Despite dark clouds, Andrea Iannone was not deterred as the Italian kept his rhythm flowing to finish the second Friday Free Practice on top of the chart with a 1’33.591 lap time couple of tenths quicker than his FP1 time
“The Maniac” will line up the last rider on the MotoGP grid as the lights go at the TT Assen Ciruit on sunday. With Iannone’s continuos run of form, a top spot finish is within reach.
Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi came in second aboard the Factory M1 with Marc Marquez aboard the Repsol Honda RC213V posting a 1’33.724 in 3rd.
A 1’33.724 saw Marquez complete the top three, three different manufacturers in the top three. He too made significant improvements over his pace in Free Practice 1, where he ended down in 11th place.
Despite debuting several new parts during the Barcelona test, Marquez’s RC213V is almost identical to the one he raced in Barcelona, aside from the new winglets.
Team Suzuki Ecstar rider, Maverick Vinales fought all through to keep his GSX-RR’s front to the ground around Assen and posted a 1’33.892s in fourth ahead of reigning World Champion Jorge Lorenzo who brought in the second Factory Yamaha M1 in 5th.
6th Place was Andrea Dovizioso aboard the Factory Ducati Team Desmo16GP with satellite Ducati’s Danilo Petrucci tailing his countryman in 7th (Octo Pramac Yakhnich),
the Ecstar Suzuki’s second GSX-RR arrived 8th riden by Aleix Espargaro ahead of his brother Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) in 9th place with Scott Redding (Octo Pramac Yakhnich) taking the 10th spot to nip Dani Pedrosa off a provisional access to Q2 by ending in the top ten.
