ALEXIS MASBOU EXITS MOTO3

After a difficult first part of the 2016 season, French rider Alexis Masbou is set to leave Peugeot MC Saxoprint Moto3™ team with immediate effect. The veteran, who will find himself outwith the Moto3™ age limit by next season, has struggled becoming familiar with the new machine, as well as enduring some moments of bad luck throughout the first half of the season. With an eye on the future of the team, 19-year old Spaniard Albert Arenas will step in to replace Masbou at the upcoming Austrian GP – partnering Scotsman John McPhee on the Peugeot machine. Arenas currently participates in FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship, and after proving a title contender in 2015 is ranked in sixth position overall so far in 2016, including a podium finish.

Terrell Thien (Team Manager): “After a series of negotiations together with the team’s management and our rider Alexis during the last weeks we came to the conclusion to finish our collaboration, as of now. Alexis experienced a really tough first half of the season. He struggled many times to set up the bike to his comfort, which resulted in unpleasant outcomes for him and the team. After nine races so far this season his points tally is at zero which is hard to accept for both parties. The team’s management as well all staff in Peugeot Motorcycles Saxoprint wishes Alexis all the best, and success for his future career.”
